Brewing!

Brewing Projects from April

Having mostly settled into the new apartment, I’m ready to get back to brewing!

As with many such projects, it’s a lot more fun in a group. I’ve got a long list of various brews I’m planning to try sooner or later, and these are at the top of my list. Pick up to three of your favorites in the next week, and I’ll get to work!

And while the new brew is aging, I’ll be cracking open a few of my previous bottles. If they’re as delicious as I’m expecting, then you’ll have the recipes in no time.

Update: As of Feb. 2013, all brewing recipes will be posted on IatC’s sister blog, Game of Brews.

And if that’s not enough for you, check out the other fictional brew options over at Food Through the Pages! Ent-draught, anyone? :)

Looks like you’re going to have quite the assortment of liquid refreshment from your brewing experiments to taste and share. :)

One of the features of this world is the seasonality of the food. Plums are ready now, big and fat and luscious. They may have already been picked and be slowly drying. Blackberries are also ready now – the same applies. But both are fruit of the early autumn and making wine out of them, ready for the winter feasts, is perfect.

I chose plum because I love them. Put the blackberries in a pie with some early fallen apples.

That’s all kinds of yummy. I figure a cordial will probably have to go in there, too, just for good measure. :)

I’d love to get a mead recipe from you guys. I’ve done a little homebrewing including making my own mead (my inspiration to do so was skyrim, not a song of ice and fire I’m afraid) with very mixed results. My best was a dry mead that had a white wine feel to it, so a tried and true recipe would be great (please include what kind of yeast you used)

I’m looking forward to developing some! Many meads take a while to age properly, so I’m looking to intermix them with a few shorter recipes, too. I’ve got a Metheglin recipe that’s awesome. Coming soon. :)

How do you brew in your apartment? I can’t imagine my roommate being okay with it!

The trick is to make something your roommate(s) really like for your first brewing project. ;) Honestly, it took some doing on my end. My boyfriend was convinced that every single bottle would explode (a slim danger) or that we’d all go blind from drinking homebrew (that’s only from dodgy distilling). He’s come around since then, thankfully!

Just started reading the blog, and I’m really enjoying it! I’m also just beginning my new obsession with homebrewing, but I find it so hard to decide what to do next! So no matter what gets chosen for your next brew, I’ll definitely be brewing-along! A friend of mine gave me a sampler pack of the Williams Bros. historic ales for my birthday one year, and I loved the Fraoch Heather Ale! (ok, so I loved all of them!) I’ve been meaning to try to make them myself, as I am really interested in historic brewing recipes.

    Hey,
Where so you find the time for all of this? I am impressed! Moving AND brewing! I plan to join the “Great Ginger Beer Adventure” soon–at the end of September. I’ve found a source for organic ginger–at the Concord Food Co-Op. Now I need to come up with another flavor to add to it…. My husband loves ginger beer.
    Cheers!
