Hi! I am a friend on facebook!
My absolute favorite recipe of yours is the oatbread with date, apple and orange. It’s practical, easy and delicious! I’ll make some of that with cheese, dates and a bit of wine (Dornish of course) for the premiere! YUM.

I’m going to try the strawberry pie again. For some reason it didn’t work for me when I made it for last season’s finale, so I’m going to try again!

I did the pork pie last season – and my father in law, getting the leftovers, now will not allow a single bad word to be said about me. I might do the beef pie with spiced squash for this season’s premiere.

Your original “Elizabethan Buns” recipe, made with sweet sherry, is a breakfast (or really anytime) bread I make all the time. As you stated, the first bite is not overwhelming, but some flavor combination draws you back for more – again and again. I find them simply irresistible! (I’m glad I copied your first recipe for these buns as that was not what showed up in the book. Go back to your original recipe post and give others a chance to try them.) You are already my FB Friend. Though I am firmly in the Stark camp, my grandson is a Leo, born in Leo, so I would beg the Lannister Lion T for my prize.

    • Chelsea M-C says
      March 20, 2013 at 10:50 am

Good point! We didn’t have time to secure the rights for the original Eliz. buns, for the book, so they got swapped. I’ll go fix that right now. ;)

I’ve been plotting, planning and collecting (rustic looking plates and serving dishes, wooden candlesticks, cutlery with antler handles, and wooden goblets purchased at King Richard’s Faire) for my G.O.T. Feasting!
We will be having homemade mead, a platter of cheeses (some stinky or that have “gone blue”), hot cross buns (since it is Easter!) honeyed chicken, Sansa salad, buttered carrots, and lemon cakes for dessert. Gotta have the lemon cakes or there might be a riot! (-:

  25. Jamie says

I love to snack on Sansa’s lemon cakes while watching Game of Thrones. Those and my sister’s special recipe we call Khaleesi cookies.

I have my entire Easter dinner planned around the recipes. I’ve been testing all those I haven’t made yet – everything so far has turned out! So excited!

    > Starter: Medieval Leek Soup (Making it tonight for the first time)
    > Main Courses:
    >> Honeyed Chickens (dinner last night – YUM!)
    >> Roast Boar (Yes, yes, yes, my hunter-hubby got one this year!)
    >> Duck with Lemons (Dinner last week – DELISH!)
    > Sides
    >> Onions in Gravy (This has become my all time fave onion dish – never touching another onion ring again! EVER!)
    >> Roman Buttered Carrots (very good)
    >> Sweetcorn Fritters (trying them tonight)
    >> Summer Greens Salad (tasty & beautiful – a little hard to find edible flowers where i live but I did it)
    >> Cheese-and-Onion Pie (trying it this weekend)
    >> Medieval Pease Pie (Served it to dinner guests & they all raved & wanted the recipe. This is AMAZING!!)
    >> White Beans and Bacon (YUM)
    >> Venison Pies (using the Modern version filling in the traditional crust – will see how that works! Haven’t tried this recipe yet – and only 2 more weeks to attempt it as a trial! Hunter-hubby scored the buck in December!)
    > Dessert:
    >> Medieval Applecakes (Planning them for dessert on Friday night)
    >> Medieval Poached Pears (Looks too beautiful not to try. Maybe test ’em this week end)
    >> Elizabethan Lemon Cakes (LOVE LOVE LOVE these!)
